Appleseed - Earn Heaven (CD)

"Earn Heaven" consists of ten atmospheric tracks, sounding cohesive as a whole, and yet with enough character to make each of them "live a life of its own." Here we have short pieces that can successfully appear on the radio (sensual "California", rhythmic "Rise Up!" or strongly referring to the rock classics "Shelter"). Alongside them appear compositions that are a bit more elaborate. "False Idol" surprises with numerous changes of atmosphere, "Take Me" hypnotizes a bit to reach a real power of sound in the finale, and the closing track (and also the longest on the album) "Behind a Smile" makes us glad to press play in the player again!

To sum up, "Earn Heaven" is a piece of excellent work. It's gratifying to see that the Appleseed band, after several years of silence, is once again venturing out into wider waters, taking us into the world of their extraordinary music. One can only hope that the Poznanians will also promote their new work during concerts, as Appleseed has always been famous for its great live performances!
